Palm Lake Resort Hervey Bay is excited to host its inaugural Rockabilly Festival onsite later this month. Palm Lake Resort Hervey Bay sales manager Leisa Saunders says the event will be a colourful and fun showcase of the music, dance, costumes and cars of the 1950s Rockabilly era.
Among the entertainment, a local eight-piece brass band called Soul City will entertain the crowd and will no doubt have everyone up on their feet dancing. And dancing will be a major part of the event. While amateur resident dancers and their guests will be encouraged to join in, local invited dance clubs will put on expert rock ’n roll dance showcases. As Leisa explains, there’s a strong culture of dance within the resort with regular classes held in line dancing and rock ’n roll classes and many residents never missing a dance class.
The local Hot Rodders Car Club will also have their shiniest cars and most precious metal on show at the Rockabilly Festival.
Leisa encouraged guests to come dressed in their best 1950s outfits as there will be two prizes up for grabs for the Best Dressed Female and the Best Dressed Male. Each winner will take home a $100 cash prize. Lucky door prizes donated by Palm Lake resort will also be drawn on the day.
So, mark down Saturday May 14 in your diary and rock and roll your way to the Oceans Country Club between 10am and 3pm (the band will play from 11am-2am) for what will be a colourful and memorable event. RSVPs on 1800 455 307 by May 6.
