Truganina Volunteers Honoured

National Volunteer Week is an annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of our nation’s volunteers. With the theme “Give Happy, Live Happy,” the 2016 event celebrated and explored the research that shows volunteers live happier and healthier lives.

National Volunteer Week was celebrated from May 9-15 and to mark the event and the importance of volunteers in our local resort, Palm Lake Resort Truganina hosted a Volunteers’ Morning Tea on May 13 to acknowledge our local helpers.

By all reports, the morning tea was a huge success with a great turn out and our volunteers reporting that they did indeed receive the appreciation they so deserve. Anita Pell from the Residents’ Committee made a heartfelt speech and presented some lovely certificates to our valued volunteers. It was also great to have Michelle from CFA Truganina help us celebrate.

While there are so many residents who help out within the resort, there are also a lot of residents who volunteer their time to help out in the greater community. For example, Val (Villa 220) volunteers at the Werribee Zoo on a regular basis and Ron (Villa 218) volunteers for the Red Cross.

If anyone is interested in volunteering their time around our beautiful resort, please speak to Bill or Morag B (Villa 205).
